From ADE Commissioner Johnny Key

“The approximately 2,500 National Board Certified Teachers (NBCT) inArkansas have impacted education in Arkansas in many ways. The majority of NBCTs in Arkansas serve as mentors to novice teachers and share the valuable knowledge and skills they have learned through the certification process. Also, NBCTs serve as grade-level leaders and help guide the curriculum and teacher performance in their content area.   NBCTs have moved to leadership positions in their respective schools where they have the opportunity to model effective teaching strategies and support other teachers, guiding the culture and climate of their respective schools and ultimately impacting student achievement.  NBCTs have become political advocates for what is best for children and speak to their legislators regarding school issues. With the financial support Arkansas has given to each NBCT, the state has retained some of its very best teachers to continue the positive impact on student achievement.”
